It all felt so right but it all went so wrong. Warmed up a mile and felt really loose, light-hearted and in a good state of mind. I don't know what went wrong but somewhere in there it went really wrong. Went out exactly as planned, got a 5:04 first mile, also exactly as planned. Yet for some unknown reason it all blew up in my face. Started to move up and pick off everybody that started too fast but after a while it just plain hurt. I did everything and everything felt right but it just owuldn't give. Second mile was a 5:37, third a 5:44 and the kick was pathetic. I felt as if everything was there and set up for me to succed but my body just couldn't give what I know it can. Perhaps it was the food poisining, maybe it was mental preperation, or possibly even bad luck. Regardless of what happened on the course, the trip was fantastic. Now looking foward to track season and enjoying footlocker and running a race there I can feel good about.
