Decided to get one of these. Comment something and I'll add you to my favorites if I like you:)

Cross training still so that's fun. Biked the length of the Jordan River trail 28 miles 17mph avg pace. Spent probably an hour setting this thing up just to track my shoe mileage.

See Collin's blog for a masterfully written summary about how my calves felt today. On another note I think I really need to work on hydration, during the run today at about 1.5 in my side starting hurting, bad. Felt a bit like a small midget with a hammer was inside my side banging with the wrath of dehydration powering each swing. Going to be drinking lots of water today especialy because practice tomorrow starts at 9:00(right as it starts to get hot). But still excited for the steady state run tomorrow and hoping coach let's me run all of it. Also incredibly excited because the spring turned on today and got to enjoy that for the first time

6.000.000.000.000.000.000.006.00

Today was a 3 mile steady state run and the pace our group was supposed to be between 5:20-6:00. Starting feeling that side-ache from yesterday again on the .5 warm up to where we were starting the run, panicked a little bit because I knew I worked hard to hydrate yesterday. Decided to just do the run and focus on my breathing by slowing it down and taking nice slow easy breathes. Felt good the first mile(5:40) but could tell I if stopped controlling my breathing the side-ache would come back. Then a little after crossing mile 1 my core started to give out, I didn't realise it but I was tensing the entire time . Eventually my core just completly fell apart and I got the incredible urge to throw up, couldn't hold back anymore and ran off to the side of the road and threw up. From then on it was over, felt delirous, my head pounded, and there was no way I could keep running. Didn't even get to two miles today, I don't know what was up but something was really out of balance. Not sure if it was salt, dehydration, electrolytes, or even lack of sleep but I have the weekend to get myself back into it. Went bridge jumping with Michael and Austin so shoutout to them for that then finished up mileage 1.9 to 6 barefoot in the grass at North Lake.

"That Hill Run" today, really disappointed with how it went.  Didn't even finish it, threw up at the first mile and felt pretty awful afterward. No idea what is causing this, but it's most likely nutrition related but as to what exactly it is I haven't the foggiest idea. Scheduling an appointment to get it checked out but in the meantime going to moniter what I eat and mentally and physically prepare myself over the next 4 days for the tempo on friday.

Easy run today, supposed to be between 6 and 7 min/mile pace. 8:49 warm up lol, but still got the average down to 6:46. Did 2 barefoot miles in the field above the cemetery and felt great. Also today was kinda faster and I didn't have the urge to throw up at all, which as fantastic.

Did 10 today at 6:36 average with Collin and LP today, split a 40:02 10k lol. Started from Legacy Park and made a loop including the dip. Started to die off a little bit at around mile 6, stopped to break at a park and lived up to the name Chuck. Felt refreshed after that and got back on pace and struggled a little to finish off the last mile but kept it very consistent the whole run. Mile 4-8 were all the exact same pace thanks to Coach Ryby, also shoutout to him again for not letting Collin and Zac leave us in the dust last 2 miles.

Decided to mile repeats today. Not a good idea, still not recovered from Saturday's run or the trail run yesterday. First repeat was a 6:02. Decided to just do recovery pace today, averaged 7:14 for the whole run. Excited for a number of reasons, have a meeting with a nutritionists today to finally figure out why I keep throwing up my breakfeast, in fact I'm typing this up in the waiting room. To top it off flight for Alaska leaves today a little after noon so no blog entries until the 16th, looking foward to getting some great runs in there.

Yesterday was hike day, so that's my excuse for not running. Woke up at 4:30 and ran while the sun was rising, it was a little odd having sunrise at 5am. Ran from camp to Nugget Falls, had to bushwhack a little after making a wrong turn. Ended up being 9.2 there and back finished running around the meadow we camped in.

Next two days are scuba days so running is going to be too tiring. Motivation to run is really low, it's too cold in the mornings and the only clean running shorts left are BOAs, we'll see. Ran along Montana rd, a nice dirt road that went to nowhere, but the view along the way was awe-inspiring. Could see the from one end of Mendenhall glacier to the other as well Nugget Falls.

High+2 was pretty much the only reason I ran today. Could finally do the 6.15 trail to the top of the glacier. There was a lot more elevation gain on this trail than I thought there would be, ~800 feet of gain meant the pace was low on the way there but was flying down the trail on the way back. Attempted ice bathing at the glacier source but 35 is painfully cold and hypothermia is no fun.

6 minute test on the Skyridge track today. New track feels amazing after running on the hard Lehi one for miles. Wasn't sure about where I should have ended up considering we haven't done a 6 minute test since Oct and well last time I barely did 4 laps lol. Decided to try and stay in between the twins and hold there started out in a bad spot at the back of group 1 for the first lap, did a couple surges to try to avoid getting gapped. Felt good the last 60 seconds pushing to catch Michael but he kept the distance. Ended up getting about 1955m, then barefoot miles around the Skyridge grounds, hopped a fence or two, made Thoms shoes get muddy and soaked. Good times.

First day back after St. George and immediately I could tell this wasn't going to be a good day. 8x600s today but it ended up being 4x600s thanks to a crippling sideache but I was hitting good times on the ones where I still felt good, 2:03 1:58 1:57 1:56. Cool downed while the boys were finishing their work out but somehow ended up with 1 mile extra, oh well. 2.6 barefoot at uh, "cooldown" pace, watched Jhoan attempt to tackle Collin, then Collin attempt to knock Jhoan down and a foot race between Collin and Brotato Chip. Went to Kneaders afterwards shout out to Collin for that idea.

Thought today was going to be high but I guess it was medium, oh well no complaints about that. Had the seniors there for practice which was nice. Ran with a big group for a while up 300w until it came to a T where Michael, Collin, and I split off towards Skyridge because Collin was thirsty. Then to the Murdock and made a loop from there connecting back on Rail Trail. Neither Collin nor I had work so we set out to find some short shorts, you can never have enough. Went to the outlets, no luck, then over to Draper to check Savers, natta. Googled nearby running stores and checked out Salt Lake Running Co, no short shorts but they did have The Grandma Knitted Ultra Boost, just not in my size😐. Then onto Wasatch Running and of course no short shorts, but they did have Zantes there and unfortunately I really liked them. PizzaPieCafe to finish off the quest for decent shorts.

One last run with the soon to be missionaries. Mileage was supposed to be low but eh, time is short so whatever. Ran The Up-Chucker while the seniors actually raced it. Then headed up Center St and crossed Timp Highway and went up the trail. We lost most everyone at 3 miles out, we kept going up the hill after reaching the end of the trail because Asa said: "Let's go to that telephone pole and evaluate our life at the top" well we reached the top of that hill and after careful evaluation of your lives for about 2 seconds we continued on to the next hill. At the top we trailblazed up to the the next hill, that pattern continued for 7 more hills until we reached an incredibly steep hill we had no hope of running up so the hike began. Upon reaching the very top of the mountain, we turned around and we're greeted with an incredible view. "Ran" and stumbled all the way down to the spring where we jumped in farewell to Connor. A solid way to say farewell to Baller.

Park City trails today, out and back on the union pacific rail trail. The way there felt really slow for about the first mile then we hit 5 out in what felt like 2 miles, but the way back was supposed to be a negative split progression run. I hit all the splits we were supposed to for the first three but after mile 3 when we started to pick up the pace I felt the urge coming, burped on the run and knew it was all over, stumbled to the side and did my thing. Papa Heaps came by and ran with me once I finished dry heaving, had a good talk with him and I think he might know something to get rid of my tendencies.

Low mileage at easy pace which felt a lot better than I was expecting. Stopped by vets park to run through the sprinklers which was a welcome cool down. Fought the urge to chuck today and though I burped a lot on the run I made it through the entire run without throwing up which is a first. Hoping I can make it this entire week without doing my thing but we'll see how the team race goes.

It's been a week since I last posted so I figure now is as a good time as any to post an update. I have a stress reaction in my calcaneus, so I've been off for 10 days cross training and now I have to go by feel and just be very cautious about how far I'm going. Now that that's out of the way, today we ran The Upchucker (or the kicker) which reduced the excitement of running again only slightly. Nice and slow 1.5 down to the start line from Skyridge felt okay on the way down, but my heel felt like it was back to normal but I'm was not about to push my luck. Michael took it out hard and we went with him the group droped off on the first hill, then on the second Michael and Dallin started to gap me and I never caught back up. When I was attempting to kick and close the gap Mike and Dallin had on me I suddenly with no warning started to dry heave and while I my kick left A LOT to be desired I finished with an okay 8:50. Half mile cd then biked for 45 to finish up for the day

Heel is feeling good but I'm going to be careful and not over do it. All three teams treated today as a tempo run which made for a very relaxed first mile with everybody talking and laughing, split a 5:37 first mile so a little bit slower than what it should have been but I was enjoying "racing". Second mile was a 5:35 which was about 15 seconds too slow but I started to have trouble breathing after swallowing a few bugs, which was a little unusual. Then half mile barefoot cd which felt absolutley amazing. Biked for 50 minutes to finish up mileage for the day, also learned I'll be running varsity at grass relays which is great!

After a short little hiatus I am back. Figures there's no better time than after Bob Firman. Jamie put me in the Varsity race instead of the Elite race which admittedly made me pretty angry but I kept it to myself and let it motivate me to prove myself. Looking at past years results if I wanted to medal and get top 20 I was going to need to get a 16:55 or lower which I knew I could do. Race started off fast, like really fast, I was in about 50th at mile 1 and it was a 5:11. I wanted to start out reserved and then pass everyone that started out too fast, and that's exactly what I did. Through the second mile it was a game of passing and closing. Second mile was a 5:21 so I slowed down a bit from the first but it was much more consistent than I normally am, also PR'ed my 2 mile with a 10:32 lol. I ran past Jamie right after the two mile and she gave me a count but I wasn't sure if she said 26th or 36th. I went with 36 and knew I had to start passing and making moves fast. Moved well through the third mile and once I got to the hill it was all or nothing to get in the top 20, right before the final u-turn Jamie told me I had to catch green. Except there were two green jersey's in front of me. One was farther ahead than the other so he became the target, kicked it in hard and ended up with 19th and feel confident knowing that I know what works for me.

Mileage is currently at 6,7,8 and I probably won't up it for the rest of this season which is a bummer:( 7 miles today legs were feeling pretty tight from racing and long bus rides but it felt good to see a distance run average under 8 lol (even if it was by 2 seconds). Attempted to do a plank for all of abs but was rudely interrupted by Satchell, also ended with a pair of supernova glides which is kinda neat.

6 minute test and I was determined to get 2000m. Started out way too fast with a 62 400m split lol, pace dropped a lot in second lap and around the 700m mark I started to feel a poking in my left spike, got so bad I had to take my spike off in the middle of the workout which was awkard. Continued on with I think an 82 third lap so that was slow. Mile split was a 4:44 which meant all it was going to take was a 76 last lap to get 200m. Well I was about 8 meters short of the line at 6 minutes :/ Finished mileage out to 4 so I wouldn't get any blisters then abs and hips

Speed again, workout was 200 400 800 1600 800 400 200. 2 and 4 at current mile pace 8 and 16 at goal 5k. Had to run this one without Chris and Mike which was a little odd not having anyone to chase, splits were 32, 72, 3:32, 5:02, 2:23, 67, 29. Was still feeling surprisingly good halfway through the mile so I started to drop the paces for the rest of the workout. Glad to have a good workout after yesterdays flop. Abs, hips, lots of rolling out and an ice bath to recover well.

Hip flexor is kinda bothering me, I'm thinking it's from running uneven in the 6 minute test on Tuesday. Legs are feeling a little tired but overall not too bad. The 800 was a 2:30 and didn't feel like it was that out of reach but we shall see. Only went 5 because of the hip flexor, hips and abs

Legs were feeling pretty sore when doing the warm up which had me a little concerned about hwo the race was going to go. Did strides and loosened up a bit then started off reserved or what I thought was reserved but first mile a 5:20 and it felt much faster. Slowed down the second and third miles a lot. It was really hard to get up to speed on this course, sharp turns everywhere made it really dificult. Time was okay but I know I can do better and that I have to next week at region

Gun went off and I felt good and wanted a 5:10 first mile but it was a 5:04, but at the first mile I was in about 45th. Realized it was region and place was all that mattered, started to pass consistently for the next 1.5. Ran past Gill at the 800 and he said "It's now or never go see stars" which gave me some serious motivation. Last 800 was a 2:19 lol. Michael wanted to do something adventurous today so we set off towards Alpine. Ran what we'll call the berry loop. Ran past Ridgeline then turned right through the dip towards timp highway but there was abut a mile where there was a lot of trees with hard little berries on them. Michael was with us so of course he pulled them off the trees and began to pelt me, that went back and forth for about a mile until my back was worse than after sting pong. Thus the berry loop is born. Abs and hips plus rolling after.

It all felt so right but it all went so wrong. Warmed up a mile and felt really loose, light-hearted and in a good state of mind. I don't know what went wrong but somewhere in there it went really wrong. Went out exactly as planned, got a 5:04 first mile, also exactly as planned. Yet for some unknown reason it all blew up in my face. Started to move up and pick off everybody that started too fast but after a while it just plain hurt. I did everything and everything felt right but it just owuldn't give. Second mile was a 5:37, third a 5:44 and the kick was pathetic. I felt as if everything was there and set up for me to succed but my body just couldn't give what I know it can. Perhaps it was the food poisining, maybe it was mental preperation, or possibly even bad luck. Regardless of what happened on the course, the trip was fantastic. Now looking foward to track season and enjoying footlocker and running a race there I can feel good about.
