| Gonna be a little more consistent in keeping up with these from now on. Ran the usual way which feels weird to say since I haven't run it in three weeks. Breathing is getting better but it is still a little fast and I get out of breath real quick, especially if I start talking. Abs with Mike after and I'll be honest, I did no abs over christmas and sick break and I could tell, that hurt.

| Jail trail in the snow was pretty fun only wish I had more miles so I could have gone farther but oh well. I've decided to not race on sat and instead just to try and get back to normal miles smoothly.

| I knew it was going to be a lonely 12 miles so I did my best to come up with a loop to keep things interesting. Started out from my house then ran all the way up center street until wines park then took a left over towards willowcreek and willow park. Jumped on the the Jordan River trail and then started on my home. I'm not really sure what happened on this run because the first 6 miles were at 7:58 average pace and then when I got on the river trail for some reason it turned into an easy pace run with a 6:28 average. Was supposed to do 12 but the loop was short so I just took off some of the miles from going over on Thursday. Abs and hips.

| Had speed today but no zantes :( Speed was 6x400m @simplot mile pace with 3min rest then 4x100m all out with 1min rest. It was just Thom and I for most of them, Andrew started to creep up but for the most part it was good to go back and forth. Felt really good and wanted to go on a lot of the 4s but kept things so except for the two 65s, lol whoops. Ended up averaging 66.5 for the 400s. The all outs hurt a lot more than I expected but oh well. Finished up with a 2 mile cooldown. Austin my brother, you choked.

| Started up the Jail Trail today and I had a loop in mind but it quickly all went pearshaped with the group splitting into about 3 groups with some of us up the side of a steep hil some more of us down on flat ground and then another small group running up a steep trail. In short it was all over the place and crazy but that just made the run more enojyable. Also ran with Ryan a bit which was neat. After plateauing we followed Big-T and diverged which quickly led us into a muddy, snowy swamp, so that was neat. Ended up cutting our losses and ran back to the school and finished up on the grass because it was a nice day. If only Austin was a sock, or a fridge.

| Pre-meet today. 2x400m @ goal race pace for simplot. First 400 was a 71 which was definetely not goal pace, evened it up with a 66. 67.5 was the actual goal. Finished up to 6 on the murdock and had a good convo. Abs, hips and iced. Shoutout to Mama Hinckley for some great paninis.

| Oh boy. Watched Mike kill his two mile so shout out to him. Warmed up a mile and watched the first three heats go and they were fast but there wasn't too many guys under 4:40 so I had hope. Gun went off and there was a lot of jostling for the first 100m. Came through 200 at a 30 so that was neat, first 400 was a 64 and the second was a 65. Freaking Jaiden Melendrez and McKay Johns. Slowed a lot the next three laps but came through 200 to go at a 4:04 so I had hope but knew I would need to kick it in. My kick left something to be desired but it got the job done. Ended qualifying for finals by 1 spot so that is neat and to close for comfort. Shoutout to everyone who raced and to Gan, Guppy, and Mike for all qualifying for finals on Saturday. |

| 20x400. I think I was too slow on the two-mile pace ones and I didn't push myself hard enough during the mile ones. Tried to make up for it on the last 5 but got a crippling side ache. | Tried something a little diferent today and brought two pairs of shoes. The freedoms for the 6 before speed and then zantes for whatever was left. Lower calves were hurting something fierce for the first 6 then when I put the zantes my whiny little calves turned into fully-grown cows ready to kill this speed. That's exactly what I did, 2-mile workout was 4x1000 @ 2-mile pace wasn't really sure about what pace I should actually hit. First one with Dalpal and hit a 3:06 and it hurt a lot more than I expected and got me realy concerned I wouldn't be able to keep it up. Went out a little faster next time and stuck with the Twins and Thom, it still hurt like someone was tenderizing my legs but ended up with a 3:01 for all the remaining sets. Had a euphoric cooldown in the wind and rain then abs and hips.

| I really wanted to do IM Flash today and it felt great to do it for a while for it quickly became appareant that 7 miles of hill would not rest happy with the legs. Thought of an alternate route that ended up working out great. Time flew by for 8 miles but after that it just dragged on for those last few. Legs felt a lot better than I expected which was a most welcome surprise. Soleous hurt a little today but no where near yesterdays level. Abs and hips.

| Ran down to the twins house to see if the calls had gotten here (they hadn't). Then ran down 300w then over to Lehi high. Lost Mike at 4 so it ended up being just Thom and I but it was a good run, except for the last 1.2. Legs began to feel tired and it just felt like that last little bit was being grinded out.

| Twas a good one. Went out on Murdock and interrogated Gill for details on his Peru trip along with the dets on Sam + Gill. Related it to running and decided Gill is beginning his final lap and must kick it in now and finish through the line. Put a ring on it already. Now for the fun part. Went out to where Murdock intersects a road at the park by freedom and took a right because out and backs are just no fun. After a pleasant little run through some quant but rather rich neighborhoods we are faced with a decision. Turn left following a road and possibly risk going over or take a right and hop on trail and see where the trail will take us. The trail proved to be the best option and after a fence hop or two later we come to a lovely green field. Hop over a little fence near a stream and continue running, until two horses materialize out of nothing on top of a hill and they do not look pleased with us invading their field. Reminescent of movies with Native Americans appearing on horseback then seeing the intruder off. We proceed to scramble across said stream but it turns out to be a swamp. After making our way through some trees to try and escape from the horses who have now made their way down the hill we see a road and make our way towards that #salvation. Until Gill points out there are rather angry looking yaks in the pasture between us and the rhe road. One yak didn't like the way Thom looked at him or maybe just the way Thom looked idrk but nevertheless he charged the fence. We then book it through a backyard and return to civilization and then run back to Skyridge via Samis road and 1200 east. Also AK smh.

| Whew. Last run in Arcadia was a good one. Twins and I headed out from our hotel towards Santa Annita park and the high school. Hamstring was a bit tight but it went awa after mile. Stretched next to a chainlink fence bordering the golf course right across from Arcadia high, it is at this point I should add that it was 11:15pm. There was no one around and the golf course was just begging for it, thus after a hop skip and jump we were putting in miles on the green.The full moon helped but it was still too dark to see so you could tell there was a hill coming up but as to where it started was a mystery. Cue a race to the top of every hill. Never have I felt runner's high like I did that night. Upon hopping the fence again I nearly ran over a possum, and in case you were wondering they really do play dead. Poked him with a stick a couple times until he ran away into the bushes growling and probably cursing at me in whatever possum lagnuage is. Good times.

| Had the option to do speed or to just do a distance run. Chose speed along with Dalpal. Speed was 6x1min uphill @mile effort. Little hard to get a good feel for mile effort uphill but things felt pretty good. Satisfied with how it went and kept things consistent, was hard to keep positive especially for those last two. Finished up to 8 and I think I need to work on hydrating because those 3.5 miles after speed were unpleasant.

| So, about mileage and math. That crap is hard man. Did 2 at the school and a windy pre-meet, hit a 30.4 and a 30.2 so mehhhhhhh. Drover over to Mountain View to get in some miles in a new place and run with some new people. 1 mile warm up with the milers then did 1.5 during a lul in teammates racing. Cooled down once with a bunch of guys and learned the Bensons on Timp aren't actually related, that was shocking. 2.25 from that cooldown then another cooldown this time with Joe Benson(who is NOT related to Brennan) Mike and Thom that cooldown was 4 miles. It was at 2 miles out on the second cooldown where I realized I am in fact very dumb and had gone a wee bit over. lol whoops.

| Oh this was a good one. Headead out from my house on the newly finished trail to go and try that out. It's great. There was no one on it and I saw 38 deer throughout the entire run. Things got more interesting when I turned left rather than follow the Jordan River trail and ran on the Utah Lakeshore trail the asphalt turned into a dirt trail and started turning into a lovely little forest. Then I hear some voices and got a little concerned for my safety but upon rounding a bend I see it opens up into a lakeside clearing and it's just a bunch of hippies so high they could have been Niel Armstrong taking steps for mankind. The called me over and we had a lovely conversation about all the cattails surrounding us, then one proceeds to proclaim her love for cats and runs straight into the nearby water. Good times. Turned around and was on my way but got distracted when I saw a no trespassing sign with a bridge behind, you know I'm all about that. A hop skip and sketchy bridge later and I'm on this little island with the river on either side and there's large dirt walls on the edges of it creating a bowl. The tops of the dirt walls were flat so a tiny climb later and I'm running up there run around it once and discover I was on the lake shore, funny how the utah lakeshore trail would take you to the shore, who would have thought. I then head home and low and behold the young womens pres is walking on the new trail getting in those momma jogger miles. She chastizes me for running without a shirt and that I should make more modest choices. But I think she was just envious of this "temple".

So going into this I was under the impression I topped out at a about 4.5 then it was all cruisin from there. Under that impression I went out strong but reserved. First mile 6:36, 7:25, 7:54, the peaked at 9800ft. Downhill miles were 6:21 amd 6:16 and those downhill miles hurt something fierce. Then something truly cruel happens, it levels out from the downhill then rounds a corner and I am greeted with 417 more feet to climb. During those two downhill miles my legs had gone jelly and to go back up a hill for mile 7 absolutely killed me, 7:48 pace. Legs were feeling real bad but luckily for me because of the high elevation the temp wasn't bad and I got some cloud cover #blessup 7:08pace 1572ft of gain from this leg

Here's where things get interesting. Good ole Salt Boy practicaly killed himself on his leg. Mike jumps in and takes over running like a bro, but I was not going to let Mike run 9 in that infernal heat. I switch him partway into his leg so he only had 7. I knew my leg gained about 700ft so I had mentally prepared myself for that but I couldn't remeber where that was in the leg so I was kinda dreading the gain that I knew was coming. I told myself to hover around 7 flat until I encountered said gain but man was that the hardest 7-flat pace I've ever done. Little did I know it was actually a gradual uphill and I was really gaining about 115ft every mile. That would have been nice to know because there were times where I thought to myself "I'm such a chump I can barely maintain an easy 7-flat pace" ended up averaging also 7:08 pace with 834ft of gain

3:30am I knew I was going to be adding a little extra on because Gill wrecked his calf and our whole van was taking some miles off his leg for him. My stomach was not agreeing with me at all before my leg and I was getting worried I would litterally explode on my run. When we pulled over to switch Austin out for Kobe I went over to the bushes and dry-heaved a little to no avail, then it was time for me to takeover for as long as I could. I switched the vest out with Kobe and began to slowly pick it up because my stomach was worrying me. Yet, as I picked up my pace I felt better and better so I just kept picking it up lol. The van took a while to follow me along and I got a wee bit paranoid during that cause I was in the middle of wilderness and visibility from the headlamp was minimal due to all the ash in the air. They finally pulled up behind me and I became conscious of the fact that I was and had been running up hill but I couldn't tell how steep it was I just wanted to go. So I kept going up and up, got some real nice downhill for about .3 and ended up holding back but still going 5:20 pace and it just felt blissful. I felt so strong during this leg, I was just going and having fun. Got to the exchange and the van wasn't there ready to drop Austin off so I was fully happy to just keep running but the volunteer called me back and told us the next legs were cancelled due to the excessive smoke in the air. We drove this stretch of road the next day during daylight and I was shocked to learn just how much hill there was, in the dark I wasn't aware just how much gain there was. 7:08 once again #consistency 728ft of gain in just those 4 miles lol

| Workout: 30-min tempo starting at 25 seconds slower than race pace and then last mile at race pace. Decided race pace would be 5:20 Planned a 7 mile block to give good warm up and cooldown distance. Warmed up a mile and felt real calm and collected but a little nervous because my watch battery was low. First mile was a 5:42 so a little too fast, watch batter got to 3% at 1.5 in so I turned gps off and used it mostly for a timer. At this point I was already hurting so I knew I was in for it. Kept grinding through since this was my only workout this week so I was going to give it everything I could. Got to the turn that meant 4 miles in and started to get loopy but kept going hard. At what I think was 5 things got fuzzy and by the end I was seeing spots. Watch buzzed at 30 and I just stumbled to a stop and sat down on a curb in front of a church and just kinda sat there for a long time. Splits are without gps so they aren't the most accurate 5:42, 5:34, 5:25, 5:17, 5:15, last .6 @ 5:14. I did the math and although my loop was only 6.9 I ran 5.6 (I know this because I only cooled down .3) in 30 minutes so averaged a 5:21. Also the last 3.1 was a 16:19 5k so I guess I can update that. I feel more healthy both mentally and physically than I did at peak during senior year. There's no way I would have been able to do this during track or xc Not too bad |

| Decided to head to skyridge practice today and do some mile repeats. Warmed up over to the junior high and got to drive gills car so that was a pretty good start to the day. The course for the repeats was a little iffy tho, super long grass and a lot of turns made it difficult to open up and get going. First one was a 5:18 so not horrible but the next had to be stronger. Went out rarely strong and ended up leading wire to wire and I was always conscious of Mike right behind me. He started going hard the last .15 but I wasn't letting him have it that easy, it was close but I got him. 5:09 for that one. Dipped out for the last set. | SOOOOO todays blog is going to contain a rant. It's going to be a pretty rude rant. Be advised lol. Started out on the lakeshore trail cause it' my favorite and wanted to see how far out into Saratoga I could get. Thing is to get there you have to run through a lovely private community that has nice trees that provide nice shde and cause they rich and don't care they always got sprinklers going at 11:30. It's real nice. However, some prude reports me to the neighborhood watch(see below for long rant and explanation). At about 5 from my house I left the private community and exited out to Redwood Rd and the little path on the side of it is a whole bunch of rolling hills and they were never bigger than 10 ft but there was so many it added to my rage from earlier. Ended up with a couple 6:30s for no good reason. 6:50 avg for all 12
begin rant: ok. so during mile 4 a little after entering the private community some suburban drives by me real slow and i look over at the person driving and this lady wearing sunglasses is giving me a glare of disapproval so strong i felt it through those momma sunglasses. She then drives off and parks at a little park about .05 up from me and gets out and makes a big show of getting out her phone and dialing something. Then gets back in her car and proceeds to follow me for .2 until a truck rolls up and some dude gets out and yells for me to come over to him. I was getting real upset now so i ran over to him asking what the big deal is and he asks me why i think it's acceptable for me to talk to woman like that. first off: whaaaaaa??? i hadnt said a word, at most i made a few confused glances her way. i ask him what he is talking about and he gets heated yelling at me to be respectful and to put some clothes on because i looked like a "whore from fresh across the border"(im not even mexican you ignorant turd). at this point things click. dumb prudent suburban mormon mom over there doesn't like me running around in shorts in her precious community and this racist dude has some superiority complex cause he's a member of the dumb neighborhood watch (it was on his truck lol). then this lady made up me saying rude and innappropiate things to her cause she doesn't like me avoiding heat stroke. i really wanted to speak my mind and say some things but instead just kept running at a pretty fast pace cause i wanted no more of those two. well racist bigot back there calls the cops citing an insubordinate youth making innappropriate advances on a woman. what the hell. sure enough a cop drives up when im at 4.8 and stops me asking me what i was doing. maybe i was feeling smart but i simply replied i was running before those two harrassed me. he hears out both sides but heres the fun part. truck guy makes a comment about me likely being an illegal and the prudent thot says i shouldnt be allowed to commit public indecency running around like a stripper. cop then turns to both of them and tells the lady that i am perfectly in the right to dress like that and he tells the guy that abusing the cops with a false report can be a crime. he then advises both of them that rude remarks are harrassment and that they should both keep those things quiet. after those two donkeys drive off giving me dirty looks he turns to me saying i should "learn to hold my smartass tongue" but to be on my way. let me run in peace dammit :end rant

| Woke up at 5:10 to run the 10 mile loop from the final day of camp with Gill, Collin and Ryan. If you're obersvant you'll notice I ran 12 tho. It was a crazy loop and at times I was skeptical but I chastised myself to be faithtul in Gill's creative loop planning. Good bit of downhill with a 5:56 in there, but my legs had felt tired at mile 2 and once the uphill began that tiredness hit me smack in the everywhere. Got a wee bit lost and took a wrong turn that added +300ish feet and 2 miles. Ahh good times, surprisingly last two miles were sub-7 miracles do happen. Got Denny's afterwards that was nice. No abs cause screw that lol

| Started out at the church along 3200n then warmed up over to the murdock dip. Workout was supposed to be 200,300,600x3 uphill but rather than put myself through 600 meters up from the base fo center street(yeah screw that death) I instead opted into doing 200,300,400x4 up where we do whistle hills. Little did I know but I also avoided a nasty headwind by choosing the Murdock #blessup

| Early AM run with UVU. Met at riverview park in Provo then headed to Indian Road trail. That was hell. It was 900 feet of gain in the space of a mile and skinny guy (yes that's what they call him) was killing those hills. Once we got to the plateau at the top things normalized and we rode out the downhill down the Provo River Trail back to the park. Then did 7x100m stride outs and iced in the Provo river at 8:30 and that was freezing |

| Very cold early morning distance run with UVU ran through Vineyard zigzagging between dirt roads and streets until we reached the Lakeshore trail. The only problem is it got to be about 25° because lake effect brrr. Luckily, I think, we were going about 6:25 so most of me was toasty with the notable exception of my ears. Good time.

| 3.5 miles: Wanted to run up from Deer Creek to Cascade Springs and experince fall in all its amber glory but someone erected a fence blocking off the entire canyon. The only way around the fence was to summit a rather ominious looking hill and I was not about that suffering. (remember that)
6.5 miles: Started out from Skyridge and originally intended to do a 5 mile loop up jail trail then down past Xactware. Well about 3 miles later I am at the top of Bambi Trail up about 1780 feet. I don't know where I went wrong. The way down was the easiest 5:30 pace of my life. Split a 4:40 down jail trail which hilariously enough isn't that fast. Remember earlier when I said I was not about that suffering?
